“Sometimes they sneak up on you… the great ones. So subtle, so graceful—no big notes, no overwrought theatrics, just pure, unaffected performance beauty.”

Calgary singer Shaye Zadravec has earned international attention for her honest, understated voice and remarkable ability to make a song her own. Her simple black-and-white studio performance of “Lilac Wine,” released in 2018, resonated with tens of thousands of listeners around the world and helped introduce a truly exceptional vocalist.

A throwback to an era when great singers built careers interpreting great songs, Shaye draws from an eclectic repertoire of familiar and unexpected material. As one radio personality observed, hearing her in concert is “like listening to the greatest radio show you ever heard.”

Her recordings have brought her together with acclaimed songwriters and musicians including Chip Taylor and Ian Tyson, as well as some of Western Canada’s finest players. Her sophomore album features songs by Jesse Winchester, Lynn Miles, Paul Westerberg, Ian Tyson, Roy Forbes and others—a collection both fragile and muscular, rich in texture and carried by one of the purest voices of her generation.

Accompanied by seasoned musician, Tim Leacock, the pair weave originals and carefully chosen material in their set.

Concert date is February 13, 2027. Part of the Fensala Hall Concert Series.
